The Grace and Comfort of Home

Joe and Monica Tarantino, Innkeepers

We have lived on the property since 1972 and are intimately familiar with the land and nearby villages and cities. After we greet you upon arrival and help you get settled in, we are available 24/7. Forget your toothbrush? We have one. Need directions? We know how to get there. Want the scoop on a restaurant? We have most likely eaten there.

History of the Solitude Inn

This 1917 farmhouse on 200 acres has been painstakingly restored as a vacation rental house and affords all the conveniences of home. Chamberlain Brook runs through the property and flows into a beautiful waterfall near the edge of the property. The Solitude Inn is located on a dead-end road, and the property is surrounded on three sides by New York City Department of Environmental Protection land, all of which is accessible for fishing and hiking with a free DEP Access Permit available online at https://a826-web01.nyc.gov/recpermitapp/. DEP recreation rules are available at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/recreation/recreation_rules.shtml

Bed linens and towels are provided, as are all necessary kitchen items. The water supply to the farmhouse is crystal-clear spring water, so there is no need to bring or purchase bottled water.

In addition to secluded getaways, The Solitude Inn is perfect for out-of-town family and friends who are in the area to attend parties, showers, weddings, family reunions, and memorial services.

Reservations are taken for weekend, weekly, monthly, and long-term rentals. The entire house and property are for your use for the duration of your stay.

There is no smoking in the house. Pets will be considered. Please ask.
