WEDNESDAY: The Apex Bridge Boat Launch site as it should look in a month or so. The Cannonsville is now at 81.9% of capacity, and with fishing season one month away, that bodes well for the fishers and the fish!
We had a crazy February. The temperatures went from the teens all the way to nearly 70. The week of February 13th, it snowed every day, and we ended up with about two feet of snow on the ground. It was plow and shovel, plow and shovel. But then last week was warm, and all the snow melted. Then, one night last week it rained buckets and buckets. All the ditches gushed, some overflowed, and the pond actually overflowed as well. We could literally watch the ice melt on the Reservoir.
As I write at 9am this morning, it’s 52 degrees. That will be short-lived, however, as a cold front is coming through. It will be in the low 20s – high teens tonight, and then back up into the 40s by Sunday and Monday. Sheesh.
We are starting to get bookings for the summer, so if you are thinking of coming to stay at The Solitude Inn, please call or email to reserve your vacation dates. We have also started renovating another house on the property, The Solitude Cabin, and we hope to have it ready to rent by the fall. And we have two TENTRR sites on the farm, so if camping is more your style, please check out MorningRise and BrookSide on tentrr.com.
We are always happy to welcome March, as it means spring is near. This morning is overcast and warm, and storms are in the forecast. But we’ll take warm-ish weather whenever we can get it! We hope that March also goes out like a lamb.
Till next time.
